Survey Services For Endicott Area –Wide Study

This project addressed the reconstruction and improvement of existing interchanges at the intersection of Interstate 81 and NYS Route 17.
The southwest section of the project area includes an existing interchange at the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Front Street, in the City of Binghamton. Scope included upgrading the existing roadway to current federal standards for interstate highways enabling NYS Route 17 to be designated as Interstate 86. The design will address weaving conditions at the overlap areas of both highways and shall also consider improvements for Interchange 4, including possible replacement of the Chenango River bridges.
Shumaker Consulting, Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C. (SCE) provided survey, mapping, ROW mapping, and highway design services for this project. The scope of the survey effort included the northern end of Front Street at the Prospect Avenue intersection, including areas of riverbank located in immediate proximity to the roadway.
The project will be constructed in stages with an overall cost estimated at $75 million.
