PAUL A. SPERANZA, P.E. – SENIOR MANAGING ENGINEER, ENVIRONMENTAL
Mr. Speranza’s expertise includes a wide range of environmental regulatory issues, project management and problem solving. He has experience with environmental operations, regulatory compliance and reporting, permits, energy management and interaction with federal and state regulatory agencies including USEPA, NYSDEC and NYSERDA. Responsibilities have included management of environmental programs and operations related to clean water, air, waste, site remediation, groundwater, chemicals and petroleum storage, energy management and due diligence studies at a large industrial microelectronics campus. Expanded campus environmental services achieving significant external funding and revenue.
Mr. Speranza has experience in leadership roles, including managing a teams of over 20 EHS professionals and technicians and technicians responsible for environmental operations, industrial waste treatment and regulatory affairs and associated budgets for a 150 acre industrial campus consisting of central utility plant, industrial wastewater plant, high purity water plant in support of microelectronics manufacturing operations. Early project engineer experience overseeing design and construction of chemical tank farms and waste treatment modifications, followed by regulatory responsibilities such as hazardous waste management permitting, coordination of IBM’s phase-out of ozone depleting substances, and pursuit of ISO14001 certification. He developed an integrated system for monitoring fugitive air emissions and published / presented several papers. Following IBM’s divestiture in 2002, he expanded the scope of environmental services to include research and pilot studies leading to industrial waste treatment plant expansions and permit modifications to incorporate treatment of municipal landfill leachate and regulatory support to multiple campus tenants.
Authored several papers and presentations on various environmental topics. Led team efforts and achievements resulting in governmental regulatory agencies recognition of the Company with environmental awards including USEPA Stratospheric Ozone Protection Award (1992), USEPA Environmental Quality Award (1993), USEPA Environmental Performance Track Award (2001) and several NYS Governor’s Awards for Pollution Prevention and Recycling projects.
